Android 2.1 Update Coming to U.S. Market
In recent news we heard Android 2.1 was headed to Droid, but now the sources have confirmed that all U.S. Android phones are getting Android 2.1 firmware in few months, some consumers will have to get their phones wiped completely to get the 2.1 upgrade.
There are rumors that in the future Droid won’t have the animated wallpapers. If the update reaches completion there would be added text-to-speech support and most likely some increased widgets.
The G1 and Mytouch are the first ones to get updated. Google, being aware of fragmentation issue with Android is trying to rectify the problem very quickly. Wiping your device might be an inconvenience but necessary if you want the new upgrade. There should be confirmation in a few weeks.
