Consumer Broadband App by FCC
The FCC decided to get involved directly with our lives with its own Consumer Broadband Test app. The app is designed to probe network latencies and download speeds on your home connection or mobile device. All part of the National Broadband Plan, this will provide the FCC with useful data between advertised and real world broadband speeds. Another feature that it provides is giving users a way to directly compare network performance in particular areas. The app is currently available on the App Market and the App Store right now and the FCC is working on releasing it for other operating systems. Give the app a go and tell us what you think? It is a great way to test if someone has been stealing internet access from you and if your company has been living up to what they promised you as well!
