As mentioned in our earlier announcement, Apple is going to show us the iphone 4.0 OS this upcoming Thursday. We didn’t expect it to come out so soon since the iPad was just released but it is on the way. As per our various rumors and leaks, what can we expect to see in the new iPhone OS?
Multitasking:
Yep. If Apple’s going to answer to those who have previously shunned the iPhone, then it will happen. Of course this ‘multitasking’ will be done the Apple way, but we are sure we’ll be seeing it in the new OS. Apple’s way will still probably rely on notifications for most apps, and incorporate more of an “app-switching” idea rather tan full multitasking, but the iPhone 4.0 will likely be able to run more than one third-party app at a time.A new home screen:
This one is more of a guess but we’re guessing that Apple might try to change the look of their home screen. After hearing input from various iPhone users, a new screen of information seems like it would be very welcome.Better app management:
With iPad and iPhone apps now out there, there are a lot of apps to deal with. The iPhone needs a better way to browse through apps, and it’s likely that we’ll see it this week.Landscape mode/switch:
This one is a wild guess but after playing with the iPad, one of the first things you notice is the ability it has to adapt to any kind of usage situation. Even when you turn on the home screen, the icons adjust to the way you want to use them, rather than the other way around. There isn’t much info out on the whole ordeal but with only a few days to speculate, this is probably a good start. We’ve waited longer than three days to hear about a new Apple product before, but three days has never seemed so long.
