As per sources Yankee fans are being asked to leave their iPads at home in order to get permitted into the ball park. Now that more than one fan has been turned away or asked to stow away their tablet, we know the reports are, indeed, legit.
The reason behind all this - it turns out that the tablet is included in the general laptop ban from Yankee Stadium, a security policy enacted and, apparently, heavily enforced at the billion-dollar ballpark in the Big Apple. Of course, Yankees fans are the only ones in New York who have to part with their iPads while taking in a ballgame. The New York Mets still allow fans to bring their iPads to Citi Field, along with the rest of the stadiums across the Nation.
All this seems a little hypocritical, especially since iPhones and iPods along with other smartphones are allowed in the facility without issue. But stadium officials draw the line at iPads - a peculiar choice considering how much was spent installing a state of the art WiFi system. But at the end of the day, the iPad does fall under the heading of “any other devices that may interfere with and/or distract any sports participant, other patron, audio or audio/visual telecast or recording of the game or any technology-related service.”
