MuscleNerd of iPhone Dev Team has announced that it is possible to jailbreak iPod Touch 2G iOS 4 using RedSn0w 0.9.5 beta jailbreak tool. RedSn0w 0.9.5 is still in beta and is meant for developers only so that they may get their jailbreak apps ready for the release of iOS 4. Previously, RedSn0w 0.9.5 beta was supported with iPhone 3G but now he has added iPod Touch 2G support as well.
WARNING:
- This guide is for Already jailbroken iPod Touch 2G users only. and works on Mac OS only.
- If you’re new to the game or do NOT know what you’re doing, better wait for the official jailbreak tool to come out.
Jailbreak iPod Touch 2G iOS 4 GM with RedSn0w 0.9.5 Beta 5:
STEP 1 -
Download required files:- Download iTunes 9.2 Beta
- Download RedSn0w 0.9.5b5
- Download iOS 4 GM
STEP 2 –
- Install iOS 4 on your iPod Touch 2G. To accomplish this you will need iTunes 9.2 beta to do that.
STEP 3 –
- Run the downloaded RedSn0w 0.9.5 beta.
- Select the Browser button. Select iOS 4 GM for iPod Touch 2G.
- Select Cydia and then hit the next button.
- You will be instructed to put your iPod Touch into DFU Mode to install jailbreak.
- Once the phone has rebooted, you will notice Cydia has a blank white icon (as expected many things are broken at the moment!) You will also notice Cydia has no sources. Go to the Sources panel and add the following repo - repo: http://apt.saurik.com/cydia-3.7 (be sure you have a carrier or WiFi signal first!). When Cydia restarts, you should see its real logo now, and the standard sources should be ready to use.
