Although sources are saying that Apple wishes to patch the jailbreak before releasing iOS 4.0.1 / iOS 4.1, it isn't clear as to how long Apple is willing to wait to put off the release of the firmware update to achieve this goal they have. It is a pretty easy objective to have in mind but the longer the company waits to roll out the update, the more angry and frustrated current and soon to be iPhone 4 buyers will grow, especially those who believe the problem can't be fixed with a software update.

Apple Waits For iPhone 4 Jailbreak Before Releasing iOS 4 Update
Apple Store sources have been discussing the reason the iOS 4.0.1 / iOS 4.1 is delayed, all pointing fingers at Apple's desire to wait until the iPhone 4 jailbreak is first released. When Apple recently announced a future firmware update, there was nothing firm about its release date, the company just mentioned "a few weeks."
It could possibly just be that Apple has more objectives other than the antenna and signal display issues that everyone has been complaining about. Similar to previous attempts by Apple to block exploits used to jailbreak, there is a good reason to believe that Apple is endeavoring as we speak to roll out a patch that will fix the exploit used to jailbreak iOS 4. Thinking of the situation this way leaders to a no-brainer that Apple is waiting for the iPhone Dev Team's jailbreak for iPhone 4 to be released as everyone already knows it exists since the team proudly put on display for everyone to see.
