iPhone 4 Carrier Unlock Confirmed To Be One Step Away

Earlier today MuscleNerd updated everyone on the whole iPhone 4 unlock situation which he has been working on with planetbeing (the popular Android port founder). For those of you who don't know, the carrier unlock for US iPhone 4's on the AT&T network require a complete rewrite of UltraSn0w software because of the new baseband OS in iPhone 4. This is because the new iPhon's baseband runs a completely different OS than on previous models. Here is what the iPhone Dev Team mentioned last time:

The DevTeam and others have been checking through the iPhone 4, and have noticed the baseband runs a completely different OS than on previous models. The iPhone 3G and 3G[S] both ran Nucleus OS on the PMB8878 baseband CPU (aka XGold 608), where the iPhone 2G ran the PMB8876 (aka S-Gold 2). iPhone 4 uses the PMB9800, or X-Gold 618 – running a separate OS – ThreadX, an RTOS by ExpressLogic.

After almost a week of working on the unlock, they are now a step closer to getting everything working on the iPhone 4 so you that you can enjoy any carrier you look. Here is what the recent update mentioned:
