Lenovo makes head reel, figuratively speaking , of course. The company just came out with its Lephone, which will literally make your eyes pop out for its sheer beauty and style. Although, the 3.7-inch touchscreen Android phone from Lenovo will only sale in China (for now) still, there’s no harm in taking a peek right?
The Lenovo Lephone has an electrifying 800 x 480 touchscreen display screen, the screen is simply goregous,1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 3.5mm headphone jack, dual camera (front and back) at 3MP, A-GPS, WiFi capability, removable battery, 9-pin dock connector, optional external keyboard and an Android 1.6 enhanced with accelerometer.
It’s got volume buttons on the left side, and a reprogrammable button on the right. It’s got a Pre-like dark area at the bottom that’s also touch-sensitive, and works as either a home button or for simple swiping gestures. There’s also media playback — there a little screen for selecting streaming TV channels or what appeared to be some pre-prepared content, movie trailers and such. The apps “drawer” is now a series of pages, like iPhone apps. It’s a proven technique, though of course slightly derivative.
There’s a connector on the left side with a cover that attaches magnetically (Clever? Yes. Dangerous? Also yes.). It lets the Lephone connect to what is envisioned as a series of peripherals, the first you see here: The keyboard seemed to work just fine, although the key layout is tweaked in a slightly weird way. It also shares the same features with the IdeaPad U1 Hybrid laptop with a detatchable screen to make it a mini tablet.
No pricing has been announced yet for the Lenovo Lephone, but we are expecting it to retail for a few hundred bucks.
