Android 2.1 for Droid Eris Leaked, Download and Tutorial Available


The forthcoming HTC Droid Eris Android 2.1 update has been leaked ahead of its official release and has also been ported to the functionally identical Sprint Hero with near complete functionality. The beta build does require a full wipe and restore and features the updated HTC Sense user interface along with other improvements with varying levels of functionality in its current state. Bare in mind that you are putting your phone and all it's contents at risk.

We have listed the steps to upgrade below:

*Note before updating:  Make sure you backup your data, and do not use Mybackup Pro app to restore your home screens in the new 2.1. You will loose all HTC widgets and you will have to repeat steps 3-8 over again. Proceed with the upgrade at your own risk >;]

TUTORIAL:
  1. Download the file PB001IMG.zip.
  2. Place the PB00IMG.zip in the root of your sdcard (DONT UNZIP PB00IMG.zip)
  3. Back up all important data contacts synced with google will transfer over when you sign into your google account.
  4. Shut down phone
  5. Start phone with "power+volume down" at the same time
  6. Let it load the PB00IMG.zip
  7. When it asks to press action to update it means press trackball center or power key quickly.
  8. It will take <10 minutes to boot the first time
  9. Go through the google setup wizard as usual and ENJOY
  10. If there are any problems after the update process such as sense not working or HTC widgets missing reload the img and repeat steps 3-8 to try the update process again.
