On the flip side, a third-party insurer has stepped forth with a solution. The Worth Ave Group will guarantee your iPad many things that AppleCare does not, including theft, screen damage due to dropping, fire, flood, and even surges from lightning strikes, for as little as $45. For the top of the line 64GB iPad with 3G, the premium goes up to $82 a year. That isn’t half bad though if any of those things actually happened to your brand new portable device.
The policy has a $50 deductile, and they mentioned they will cover any damage above that amount. The company was sure to warn though, that they won’t pay if your iPad just “mysteriously disappears,” has a mechanical or electrical breakdown, normal wear and tear, rust, government seizure or nuclear war. Either way though, the insure policy doesn’t seem half bad and is pretty fair. So what do you guys think? Did any of you guys get AppleCare or plan on getting this insurance for your new device?
