CDMA Compatible iPhone 4 Rumored To Begin Shipping In Q4 2010

We've head about the CDMA compatible iPhone 4 coming to Verizon on one too many occasions. And, sources at Digitimes this morning have reported that Apple has put in an order for Pegatron who is currently manufacturing CDMA iPhone 4 units in their Shanghai production facilities, with the handsets set to begin shipping to Apple in Q4 2010.

In related news, Michael Maiorana, Verizon’s president for the Washington-Baltimore-Virginia area, said that it wasn’t a matter of “if” Apple would release a CDMA iPhone, it was only a matter of “when”. Meanwhile, US consumers continue to weigh up the significance of AT&T’s botched iPhone ordering systems yesterday -- admittedly in the context of huge pre-order interest.Apple has put in orders for the manufacture of a CDMA-compatible iPhone. The news is likely to spark new speculations Verizon may end up offering the iPhone on its network, as that’s the standard that is required to bring the iPhone to the Verizon network.

Of course, it’s not unheard of for manufacturers to seed rumors themselves for their own benefit; Pegatron are apparently set to be listed on the Taiwan Stock Exchange come June 24th, and a strong industry profile certainly wouldn’t hurt that first day share price. For now, we’ll just have to wait and see.
