iPhone 4 Teardown - Confirmed To Have 512MB RAM + More

Mozy Remote Backup. Free.Automatic.Secure.

As we had reported some lucky folks had already started receiving their iPhone 4. iFixit has managed to get their hands onto the new iPhone 4 and posted its tear down (still in progress).

Here are some of the hardware finding in iPhone 4:

  • iPhone 4 comes with the A4 processor instead of the Samsung S5PC100 ARM A8 600 MHz CPU used in iPhone 3GS

  • iPhone's A4 processor has 512 MB RAM iFixit believe that the decision to increase RAM to 512MB might have been taken quite late as teardown of iPhone 4 prototype’s had indicated that it will only have 256MB RAM

  • iPhone 4 gets a 3.7V 1420 mAh Li-Polymer battery

  • iPhone 4 comes pre-installed with iOS 4 build 8A293, which is the same build as iOS 4 released yesterday

  • The screen is made of Corning Gorilla Glass, a chemically strengthened alkali-aluminosilicate thin sheet glass that is reported to be 20 times stiffer and 30 times harder than plastic.

  • Apple has not etched the storage capacity of iPhone 4 on the outer back cover.
