iPhone OS 3.1.3 has been out for quite sometime, and the folks who relied on the unlock have been out of luck if they updated the device by accident or purchased a new iPhone since the release of the OS 3.1.3. Finally, MuscleNerd, has confirmed the release of the tool to unlock Baseband 05.12.01 for both iPhone 3GS and iPhone 3G.
Checkout the twitter conversation between MuscleNerd and EmmanueGT:
The Dev-Team want to test the same exploit on iPhone 4G / HD OS 4.0. If it doesn’t work, we shall have PwnageTool to safely update to OS 4.0 while preserving baseband at 05.12.01.
NOTE:
If you’re waiting for OS 3.1.3 baseband 05.12.01 unlock, make sure not to upgrade to OS 4.0 unless Dev-team confirms an unlock for OS 4.0 baseband and those with older firmwares also avoid OS 3.1.3 unless unlock for baseband 05.12.01 comes out.
Apple is expected to announce iPhone 4G at WWDC 2010 (June 7th-June11th) which will be loaded with iPhone firmware 4.0. So, we’re just a few days away from knowing when the unlock for iPhone baseband 05.12.01 is coming out.
