If you are still for some reason harboring a desire for a Microsoft KIN, you might want to act fast. According to sources speaking to WMExperts, Verizon is freezing sales and sending back all remaining stock, which they have started doing on July 18th. Having axed the feature-phone project - targeted at a "Generation Upload" teen market that didn't seem particularly inclined to either give up their regular "adult" smartphones. It looks like Microsoft is now gathering up the unwanted leftover products.
If you still see the KIN being something you would like to use or have a soft spot for the dinky form-factor of the KIN One - then you should probably head down to your nearest Verizon store first thing and catch them before the workers get busy with the packing tape. Checking Verizon's own site shows the listings for the two handsets as being "present" but clicking on them prompts that neither is "available at this time," so you may or may not be able to catch it in time.

Microsoft Windows 7 Tablets To Be Released This Year
Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer giving the keynote at the Worldwide Partner Conference told everyone in the audience to expect Windows 7 slate computers before the end of the year. These devices Ballmer said will be designed with both consumers and enterprise users in mind. The software maker is said to be working with a number of manufacturers to bring the tablets to the market. "They will come from the people you would expect. From Asus, from Dell, from Samsung, from Toshiba, from Sony," Ballmer said. He did noticeably fail to mention Hewlett-Packard in the list of vendors and previously HP was seen as one of Microsoft's key partners in the category of tablet-style computers until it bought out Palm for $1.2 million earlier this year. Many observers think HP now plans on introduce a slate based on Palm's webOS. Another of Balmer's presentation slides, however included HP in the list of vendors developing Microsoft-based slates. Other vendors listed on the graphic included Lenovo, Fujitsu, Onkyo, MotionComputer, Pegatron, Hanvon, and MSI.
Without saying the name of their major competitor, Ballmer said Microsoft expects to take a significant piece of the slate market by delivering a wide variety of devices that fit in both home and business environments, all of which will be compatible with Microsoft's suite of management and security tools. "We want to give you a consumer-oriented device, but a device that fits and is manageable with today's enterprise IT solutions," Ballmer said. "They'll come with keyboards, they'll come without keyboards, they'll be dockable, there'll be many form factors, many price points, many sizes. But they will run Windows 7," he added. With more than three million iPads sold in the device's first 80 days in the market, Microsoft will need to move quickly to get some of the momentum in one of technology's hottest new markets. What do you think of the thought of a Microsoft tablet? Would you be willing to buy one? Share your thoughts below!

Microsoft Predicted To Break $1B+ With Xbox Live Revenue
According to estimates made by analysts, Microsoft's Xbox Live premium gaming service is on the road to generate over $1 billion in revenue for the fiscal year that ended on June 30th. A lot of this revenue is coming from Xbox Live Gold members who offer up cash for additional content such as game add-ons, avatars, and movies. Microsoft was uncharacteristically forthcoming about its Xbox Live memberships and confirmed that over half of its Xbox Live members pay for the premium Gold service at an average price tag of $50 per year. Although it still holds the number two spot underneath Nintendo Wii in total console sales, this is all some pretty good news for Microsoft's gaming division. It bodes well for the upcoming launch of the Kinect motion controller which will hopefully attract a new crowd as well as entertain the old crowd of Xbox Live users.
XML File Confirms HTC Mondrian and Mozart Running Windows Phone 7 OS
Conflipper, the man known for his ROMs has come across some interesting information regarding HTC phones and Windows Phone 7. He has come across links to HTC's official MMS specs page for both the HTC Mondrian and HTC Mozart, both confirmed to be running Windows Phone 7 by the browser ID which can be found listed as "Microsoft Internet Explorer Mobile 7." The HTC Mondrian's XML can be found here and the HTC Mozart's XML can be found here. The MMS info doesn't reveal too much, except that both devices will have WVGA screens and both are slates without keyboards. the XML also refers to supported Bluetooth profiles, A2DP, Object push, and of course various hands-free profiles. Unlike the iPhone, Windows Phone 7 is said to support A2DP and MMS at launch. Although Windows Mobile is the main aspect of these handset releases, there should be at least 6 handsets minimum released by the end of the year running Windows Phone 7, so stay tuned for more info by following us on Twitter and/or subscribing to our RSS feeds.

HTC "Gold" With Windows Phone 7 Rumored To Release In November
An online phone comparison site Omio, said they got the scoop on some key UK handsets that are set to debut in the second half of 2010. Supposedly the news is a fresh leak from an unspecified UK retiler, the roadmap contains info on phones such as the HTC Vision, being released next to the previously unheard of HTC Ace all arriving alongside the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X8 in October, while November will be the month HTC's first Windows Phone 7 device will be released together with the QWERTY-blessed Nokia E7 and Samsung i8700 Cetus.
Other informtion released included the Nokia E7 which is probably the QWERTY equipped Symbian^3 smartphone that we have been hearing of and that has been labeled the N9 or the N8-001/N8-002 by some. This phone has an aluminum body, like the N8 does, together with a tilting AMOLED touchscreen. Slotting into the Eseries line-up would have made far more sense given Nokia's move away from Symbian^3 in their Nseries devices.
As for the Windows Phone 7 HTC phone, the device is tipped off to be the HTC gold. Although there are no details as to specs at this point many people are excited. The HTC Vision is the phone whose info was leaked earlier this week and nobody seems to know what the HTC Ace is. Finally, Samsung's i8700 Cetus is similarly mysterious but te name suggests that it runs the company's wave-themed bada OS.
Omio says they are 100 percent sure of the source and time will definitely help confirm that pretty soon. It is already July as of right now so the first of the handsets should already be on route to be released soon. More information can be found including the Nokia E5-00, Nokia X6 8GB, Samsung i5500, Sony Ericsson W20, BlackBerry Curve 9300, Nokia X2, Sony Ericsson Hazel and Yendo, and the Nokia N8 at Omio's blog. Are you excited about any of the new phones that are said to be coming out?

[How To] Resolve Active Sync Issues With iOS 4
Users who have upgraded their iPhone to iOS 4 may had reported delays while syncing with Microsoft Exchange.
Symptoms:
Immediately after updating to iOS 4, some users may notice that Exchange ActiveSync Mail, Contacts, or Calendars do not sync, or sync very slowly. In addition, some Exchange Server administrators may notice their servers running slowly.Resolution:
To work around this issue, users should install a configuration profile from Apple that increases the amount of time the iOS 4 device will wait for the Exchange Server to respond to its sync requests. For best results, the profile should be installed on as many iOS 4 devices at your company as possible.Apple has now released a configuration profile update that will resolve this issue. According to a message posted on the Apple Support website, the new configuration profile will provide a larger duration for the Microsoft Exchange server to respond to sync requests and thereby reduces the syncing related iPhone issues.
If you are among the users facing delays while syncing with Microsoft Exchange, you may follow these steps below to resolve the issue. The instructions involve downloading file components to your iPhone. It is therefore a good idea to visit this page from your iPhone or iPod Touch.
How To Resolve Active Sync Issues In iOS 4:
Step 1:
If you are reading this from the iOS 4 device, click here to download the configuration profile to your iDevice. Alternately, you can also email the file as an attachment and access it from your iPhone or iPod Touch.Step 2:
You will now be taken to the 'Install Profile' page. Click 'Install' to initiate the download. Enter passcode if promptedStep 3:
Apple will display a warning message to notify that the profile is not signed. Tap 'Install Now'Step 4:
Once the download is complete, click 'Done' to complete the download processStep 5:
Switch off your iPhone and then reboot. The installed configuration profile may now be viewed on Settings -> General -> Profile.Microsoft Exchange will now initiate the syncing process. This process should resolve the sync issues that you were observing with Exchange. Microsoft Details Windows 8 Improvements To OEM's
Recently Microsoft announced that Windows 7 hit 150 million licenses, which translates to about 7 copies a second, but that doesn't mean the folks over at Microsoft aren't planning for the future. The software giant is already beginning to prep OEMs on Windows 8, at least according to leaked slides. It doesn't look as if they have any ideas pat planned for sure but there are some larger themes being discussed as of right now, for example improved start-up, wake-from-sleep times to be nearly instantaneous, the addition of higher-speed interconnects such as USB 3.0 and Bluetooth 3.0, hard drive, encryption, ambient light sensitivity, and facial recognition login and logout. The last seems to be the most interesting as it hints to a Microsoft Kinect - style user detection. As of right now, PC's from HP, Asus, and others can already do this so the possibility of some Kinect type of device for the PC is definitely possible. Something such as the gestural menu Microsoft displayed for the Xbox 360 can easily work for Media Player and IE. There currently are not any set dates for any of this and we can't imagine Microsoft will hop ship over to Windows 8 anytime soon, especially after announcing the success of Windows 7, but it's still nice to see good things for the future.
Check out the leaked slides below:

Android Port For HTC HD2 Rumored To Come Soon
One of the greatest things about the HTC HD2 is that it still remains an excellent hardware release but as long it comes packaged with the dead OS (Windows Mobile 6.5) it will remain a weak contender now matter how good it may look or powerful it may be. To end that situation, some people are working tireless to salvage the phone by throwing an Android OS onto it. Previously they were stuck with errors involving the phone's Snapdragon core and the so-called HaRET tool used to boot Linux from Windows CE-based devices that have made a proper port impossible. Currently this issue has been overcome which means a consumer-friendly Android build might finally be possible. Considering that there is no proper Evo 4G equivalent from HTC in Europe still, the project should have quite a bit of value to it. Stay tuned for more info by following us on Twitter and/or subscribing to our RSS feeds.

New Xbox 360 Features Red Dot of Death
Microsoft claimed that this past week the new Xbox 360 shipping to stores no longer featured the dreaded three flashing lights also known as "red ring of death" (RROD), to alert owners that component failures required servicing. What they failed to mention was that the new $299 Xbox 360 "Slim" model, instead automatically shuts down and warns the user that the system needs to shut down to prevent damage from "insufficient ventilation." Instead of a flashing ring of red light, the new system just flashes a red dot at the center of the power button and informs the user that once the dot disappears, the system will be able to successfully turn on. The flashing red dot is now being referred to as the "red dot of death" (RDOD). An obvious way for the system to communicate with the user but what do you guys think? We wouldn't imagine too many people enjoying their game turning off randomly in the middle of their play but then again, not having to send your system in to Microsoft for several weeks is also a plus.

Microsoft Works On New Project - Internet Fraud Alert
A new global cybersecurity project named Internet Fraud Alert, aims to fast track the reporting of stolen consumer data. It includes username and password login information for online services, credit card numbers, and other things researchers find online. The service goes to alert banks and online services when accounts they oversee are compromised.
This technology was developed by Microsoft behind the website and donated to the National Cyber-Forensics and Training Alliance (NCFTA), a nonprofit organization that trains law enforcement agents, academics, and other groups to a combat cybercrime. The new project is supported by several companies and organizations including Accuity, the American Bankers Association, Anti-Phishing Working Group, Citizens Bank, eBay, the Federal Trade Commission, National Consumers League, and PayPal. It is usually very difficult for people to discover vast amounts of stolen credentials stashed on servers and sites such as Pastebin.com to bring it to the attention of the appropriate authorities. Many organizations don't bother to make reporting stolen data easy, and even then, it can be difficult to convince a bank or law enforcement that the information found is legitimate. This wasted time could mean the difference between someone's identity being used for fraud and stopping that before it occurs.

Active Sync Support For Hotmail Arrives Early?
Microsoft was slated to officially announce Exchange ActiveSync support for Windows Live Hotmail sometime this summer, however, while nothing has been announced, it seems the support is already active. Liveside.net is reporting that some users are having success in syncing their Hotmail accounts through ActiveSync. After several attempts, the server address seems to be identified as m.hotmail.com , SSL should be enabled and you should be leaving the domain blank. Enter your username and password accordingly and it should start to work.
If you are feeling adventurous definitely give it a whirl but since there isn't any official announcements we would expect there to be performance issues and bugs to deal with. You will also have to delete your existing data due to ActiveSync only being able to sync with one Exchange Server. Remember to back your things up if you do decide to give this one a whirl. In reading some of the Windows Live Hotmail FAQ Sheet, calendar and contact support IS present but task synchronization IS NOT which may be a downside for some. Despite the lack of task synchronization it is finally nice to see ActiveSync support coming to Windows Live and Hotmail.

Microsoft Office 2010 Now Released!
Today not only marks the release of Apple's iPhone 4 pre-orders but also Microsoft's Office 2010, Visio 2010, and Project 2010 software release. The software can be purchased from more than 35,000 retail stores worldwide. The productivity suite hit RTM last month in 14 languages, with 10 being currently available to consumers and eventually support for over 94. Microsoft's Office 2010 is also the first released which comes with 32-bit and 64-bit software, all in one DVD. Newly purchased PCs from major OEMs now come with the ad-supported Office Starter 2010 or a more full-featured version. The company expects more than 100 million PCs to ship with Office 2010 preloaded over the next year alone. Consumers can purchase four of the SKUs at retail, or they can upgrade to three of them via a Key Card purchase or download.
On top of the six different editions of Office 2010 mentioned above, Microsoft announced that Office Mobile 2010 will be available for free on all Windows Mobile 6.5 phones via the Windows Phone Marketplace. For those of you who don't know or don't remember, Office Web Apps also launched for free last week. For those of you who are currently using Office 2010 beta, keep in mind that the beta is set to expire on October 31, 2010, giving users plenty of time to move to the final version. If you are using a previous build, you'll need to uninstall and then install the RTM version separately.

[E3 2010] All About Microsoft's Press Conference
The first keynote in this year’s E3 is over! Microsoft held it and they ended up revealing quite a bit of new information. There was the new Xbox 360 as well as information on both the Kinect and a line-up of games for it. The company also shared new features for Xbox Live, an exclusive deal with ESPN, and details on games that are coming up – including a previously unannounced exclusive from the company Crytek. If you missed the keynote, here is everything you need to know:
Microsoft Kinect
The biggest news released during the keynote was additional details on Kinect formerly known as Project Natal. The company demoed quite a bit of games, most of which were leaked yesterday. During the Kinectanimals demo, a girl was able to call over, pet, and play with a tiger cub and Microsoft mentioned that there will be over 40 animals available in the full game. Kinect Sports was shown off with two players racing in a hurdles event, controlling the action by running on the spot and jumping over hurdles. The game is said to offer sports like soccer, javelin, ping-pong, and boxing. Kinect Joy Ride was a cart racer, which you control by holding your hands in front of you as if you are holding a steering wheel. Kinect Adventures is an action game that features 20 different adventures including rafting and a platform game where you jump to avoid obstacles and collect powerups. Some third party games will also be supported, companies such as Ubisoft will be released a game called Yourshape: Fitness Evolved, which tracks the movement of your body to ensure you are doing the exercises properly and features activities like combat training and yoga.
Dance Central from Harmonix, will be a dance simulator in which players mimic the movies of on-screen characters. It features a mode that slows down the pace in order to help teach you the routine and will let players download additional songs after the release of the game. Turn 10 also informed the public that Forza 3 will be getting Kinect support next year and will allow you to control the game without a controller and explore your vehicles in greater detail. You can walk around the car and touch parts of it to learn additional information, on top of being able to get into the cockpit and look around. Information on how the update will be released has yet to be revealed.
The Kinect will be launching in the United States on November 4 with more than 15 games including a Sonic title. The Lucasarts’ light saber game will be launching sometime in 2011. The price wasn’t announced at the keynote but Gamestop has it listed for preorder at $149.99
Blockbuster Titles
As for the non-Kinect blockbuster titles, there were several titles on the show, including some of which we didn’t already know about. Call of Duty: Black Ops will be launching on November 9 and all of the map packs and add-ons that come after the game’s release will launch first on the 360. Hideo Kojima revealed Metal Gear Solid Rising, which features a “Cut at will” gameplay, where players can slice foes into pieces in action scenes that look reminiscent of Ninja Gaiden. A four-player co-op demo of Gears of War 3 was displayed to show off some of the new enemies found in the third iteration of the game. A new mode called “Beast” was also mentioned with more details expected in the near future. Bungie revealed that the upcoming Halo: Reach will feature space battles, letting you control spaceships for the first time in the series. A new partnership was announced with Crytek, the developers behind Crysis, and a 360-exclusive title was announced named Codename: Kingdom.
New Xbox Live Features
Microsoft plans to expand the Xbox Live service, making it available in every country where 360s are currently sold. XBL will also be coming to Windows Phone 7, letting you take your friends, avatars, and achievements wherever you go. The service will soon support Kinect, letting users video chat with their Microsoft Live Messenger friends. The Kinect will also track your movement an allow you to do things like watch film trailers with whoever you are chatting with. Microsoft also announced an exclusive partnership with ESPN, which will give Gold subscribers access to over 3,500 sporting events both live and on demand, most in HD, at no additional cost. This will include NBA, MLB, and soccer. Users will also have real-time access to polls and trivia while they are watching.
Conclusion
Microsoft has revealed both of the things expected, Kinect and the new version of Xbox 360 (the slimmer version) as well as new titles that are to come. We learned more about Kinect and the games that will come with it as well as how Microsoft plans to implement the features of their new device to make the 360 experience more enjoyable.Stay tuned for more E3 2010 coverage by following us on Twitter and/or subscribing to our RSS feeds.

Italian Ad Leaks Possible Xbox 360 Slim
Two of the many rumored devices we have been looking forward to that were planned to be announced at E3 2010 this year were from Microsoft. Both of which have unfortunately been leaked early. First was the re-naming of Microsoft's ongoing Project Natal to Kinect. It seems that now the Xbox 360 Slim which was rumored to release earlier this year was leaked as well. An Italian site named Console Tribe ran an ad that released images of a differently designed and never seen before console that was definitely an Xbox 360. The ad also mentions how the model is compatible with "Kinect" and also invites the viewers to "live today." This seems like an ad that was supposed to go live tomorrow after Microsoft's official announcement of the device but seems like Apple wasn't the only major company having issues with leaks this year. The actual ad can be found below courtesy of Joystiq:
Microsoft’s Project Natal Official Name Leaked: “Microsoft Kinect”
Earlier today, USA Today leaked the name of Microsoft's controller-free motion control set up. Prevously known as Project Natal, the official name will be Kinect. Microsoft was apparently planning on revealing the details tonight at a pre-E3 event, but the leak was released before they had the chance to announce it themselves. There still isn't any word on pricing or a release date, but it is expected to be announced at the E3 2010 event this upcoming week. The writeup seems to have been taken down from USA Today so we hope they didn't get in any trouble, but their writeup previously mentioned a few titles include: Dance Central, Joyride, Kinectimals, Kinect Adventures, Kinect Sports, and titles based on Disney and Star Wars characters. As usual, stay tuned for this news as well as E3 2010 coverage by following us on Twitter and/or subscribing to our RSS feeds.
Microsoft Preview For Project Natal – Controller-Free Xbox 360 Gaming
Microsoft plans to reveal a new type of videogames this week, games that don’t require people to understand and utilize a complex controller with several buttons. Following the massive success of Nintendo’s Wii, Microsoft is introducing a technology, code-named Project Natal, that ditches the use of a controller altogether. The games will rely on a device the size of a stapler threat perches on top of a living room TV to recognize faces, obey voice commands, and track body movements. It won’t be necessary to mash buttons in different sequences to experience success in the game, no more buttons at all!
Although Microsoft doesn’t plan to reveal which games will launch with the device until Monday, last month it did show off four “tech demos” to a handful of testers. One can only assume that those games will come as part of the package. The lineup is expected to include: Living Statue, Obstacle Course, Ricochet, and River Rush.
Living Statue
This is Microsoft's social media strategy which lets players record their avatars singing, dancing, and singing karaoke-style, then allows them to email the video masterpiece to their friends. The company has had several ambitions for it's Xbox Live online game service, which has 23 million active users, and is hoping this attempt wil l encourage users to check into Xbox Live and make friends.Obstacle Course
This game is exactly as the name suggests. Players dodge, jump, and pull their way through a series of levels much like those found in a typical summer camp.Ricochet
Ricochet is a game where players use their arms, legs, feet, and head to block a barrage of balls. Microsoft also demoed an earlier version of this game during last year's E3 expo. The newest version of this game allows two people to play simultaneously. It uses facial recognition software to recognize the people playing and pulls up their avatars on the screen. This feature also allows parents to control which games their children can play. If the console see's that the persona playing is associated with a profile with parent controls, it will restrict the types of games that can be played.River Rush
This game allows players to indulge in the thrill of real-life rive rafting in their living room rug. Steering a virtual raft past waterfalls, rocks, and other obstacles. The graphics are similar to that found in snowboarding games with large visual cues that guide players to assure no one gets lost. The game is designed to allow anyone to jump in without having to read any manuals. In addition to these four games, another dozen more Natal-licensed titles from game developers are expected to be unveiled Monday and Tuesday but Microsoft has forbidden publishers from saying anything about them until its own news conference Monday morning. As usual, stay tuned for this news as well as E3 2010 coverage by following us on Twitter and/or subscribing to our RSS feeds. In the mean time, check out a video from the All Things Digital conference which shows off some of Project Natal's features, which you can find below:

Microsoft Launches Free Version of Office Web Apps
Microsoft recently launched the free version of Office Web Apps after nine months of allowing select users test the Technical Preview. The service is initially available via Windows Lie SkyDrive (integration with Hotmail is currently not yet ready) at office.live.com to users in the U.S, Canada, Great Britain, and Ireland with support for English, Spanish (USA), and French (Canada) languages. For the users who don't live in those regions, you will still have access, but you won't be able to choose your language. Rest assured though, Microsoft says "more languages and locales will be added over the coming months."
The apps work better with Microsoft Office 2003 and later, and when Office 2010 is released to consumers net week, Microsoft will further explain how the two will work together. This could include features such as editing files offline, co-authorizing documents using revision marks, comments, and other rich features in Word and PowerPoint.) You can go ahead and mark your calendars if you are excited about this: June 15 is when a beta of Hotmail Wave4 (with OWA integration) should start rolling out as well as when Office 2010 will hit retail and start getting preloaded on new PCs.

Nvidia To Focus On Android With Their Tegra 2
Nvidia seems to be realizing their mistakes after learning that Microsoft’s Kin One and Kin Two might not turn out to be the most auspicious devices for Tegra’s debut in the smartphone area. Admitting the committed too strongly to Microsoft with the first-gen iteration, Jen-Hsun Huang has now said that the second generation of Tegra will look to Android devices first and foremost. This newfound focus will materialize with both smartphones and tablets in the third and fourth quarter of the year, and according to Jen-Hsun, offer device makers a viable competitor to Apple’s A4 SOC. We aren’t quite sure if Nvidia’s Tegra will successfully topple Apple’s A4 chip but in other news NVIDIA has now shipped “a few hundred thousand” Fermi cards, and has also achieved 70 design wins with its Optimus graphics switching technology. Eleven of those are now out in the wild, but the vast majority are still to come, mostly as part of the seasonal “back to school” refresh at the end of the summer. All of the revelations came during the company’s earnings call for the first quarter of its 2011 fiscal year.
