When the Kindle was first released Steve Jobs said "people don't read anymore" when talking about why the Kindle would be a failure. Ironically, when Apple released the iPad, Jobs spent much of the time flaunting off how good of a reader it is. When comparing the Kindle to the iPad, in terms of battery life the figures indicate 1 week to 10 hours, a pretty big difference as you can see. Walt Mossberg did a quick interview with Steve Jobs after the unveiling of the device and asked about this , to which Jobs replied "you're not going to read for 10 hours...you just end up pluggin' it in." So apparently Jobs now thinks people do infact read but apparently not long enough without coming close to a wall outlet. When questioned about the difference in prices between the two, Jobs reluctantly states that "publishers are actually withholding books from Amazon because they're not happy," and that "the prices wil be the same." He didn't indicate whether the prices for books will be going up to the rumored $14.99 pricetag or not. The video can be seen below:
